in BACHELOR PHOTOGRAPHY

by Anastasia Mityukova

In 1959, the US Army built a military base under the Greenland ice cap to deploy missiles. Due to global warming, nuclear waste left behind after the base was abandoned is resurfacing, threatening the Thule Inuit ecosystem. My installation (a composition of cyanotypes, collages, archives, aerial views, video) and my book break down events and transgressions: a colonial attitude, destruction and pollution, showing an inaccessible and invisible reality.
