in BACHELOR PHOTOGRAPHY
by Pavo Marinovic
“Marble Ass” contributes to photographic research on how masculinities are constructed in post-conflict societies and addresses the existing archetype in the former Yugoslavia, nowadays the Balkans. The installation reveals not only the role of a territory in political transition but also its history, heritage and inter-generational transmission. The fragmentation of the image allows forms to be remodelled and exposes how humans are shaped by their cultural environment. At the same time the collages create a space of redefined narratives.
