Workshop, ECAL 2022
in MASTER OF ADVANCED STUDIES DESIGN FOR LUXURY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP
Through a unique project, students from ECAL and CSEM’s engineers have effortlessly combined modern arts & crafts and nanotechnology to create a series of innovative jewelry pieces.
The complex jewelry forms envisioned by the students were created with 3D printing, pushing CSEM’s engineers to reinterpret their nanotechnologies in a refreshing, esthetic way.
Silicon nitride was deposited in thin layers on the surface of some pieces, enhancing the designs by creating a colorful iridescent effect. On the other pieces, customized nanotechnology scatters light to create a pearlescent effect.
The result of this unique collaboration is five jewellery collections, created under the direction of the Lausanne-based studio Panter&Tourron by students of the Master of Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship at ECAL.
