Diploma project, ECAL 2021
in BACHELOR GRAPHIC DESIGN
by Jean Ducret
Every year our contemporary society generates billions of tons of CO2. The greenhouse gas curve continues to rise and it is becoming difficult to keep track of these ever-expanding numbers. A401 GES is intended to be a current and factual report of the global carbon balance. The aim of this project is to represent and popularise the data collected by adopting an expressive computer graphics language in order to optimise its reading.
The project, with its personal graphic approach, is a form of hybridisation between a fanzine and an atlas, due to its various entry points. At first, the discourse opts for a frontal and placative approach, then, using the data, towards a panoramic visualisation of our global carbon footprint.
